Free, open-source alternatives to Granola
An AI notepad for meetings that transcribes your computer's audio without a bot joining the call and turns your notes into summaries.
Granola is a notepad for meetings. It listens to your computer's audio rather than sending a bot into the call, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and other apps, and afterwards it combines your own notes with the transcript into a written summary and list of actions. Its code is not open source, and it uses Granola's cloud service and an account.
The apps below also record a call from your Mac without a bot and turn it into notes. Meetily, Muesli and Shiyin transcribe on your Mac and then write meeting notes with AI; Meetily and Shiyin let you choose the model, and Shiyin also tells speakers apart. OpenOats transcribes both sides of a call on the Mac and brings up points from your own notes while you talk. Oats lives in the menu bar and can work in the cloud or entirely on-device.
