About ATV Remote
ATV Remote puts an Apple TV remote in the menu bar. Click the small remote icon, or press Command-Shift-R from anywhere, and an on-screen remote opens; while it is open, keyboard keys act as remote buttons, such as Return for select and Delete for Menu. Hold Option to see the key mappings, and long presses work the same as on the real remote.
The first launch pairs the app with an Apple TV on your network, and you can pair more than one. It is built on the open-source pyatv library. Mac DMGs are provided for Apple silicon and Intel, alongside a Windows installer; the author describes it as a small personal project.
