About Castbar
Castbar is a menu bar remote for Chromecast, Google Home and Nest speakers. It shows what is playing, with artwork, a seek bar, play and pause, skip and 30-second jumps, and a volume slider and mute for each device on your Wi-Fi. Clicking the title takes you to the Chrome tab that is casting. It suits people who cast from Chrome and want to control playback without picking up their phone.
Castbar requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 11 or later. The README says the app is not signed yet, so the first launch has to be allowed in System Settings under Privacy & Security; the README suggests right-click and Open. The project is MIT licensed and free.
