About FinchGram
FinchGram is an unofficial, open-source Telegram desktop client written in Rust with the Slint toolkit, using TDLib, Telegram's own library. It covers chats and folders, messages with reactions and voice messages, and a media viewer, and adds a screenshot tool, a downloads page for WebDAV, FTP, FTPS and SFTP servers, a player for Subsonic music servers, and opt-in voice input. AI assistant access through the Model Context Protocol stays off until you allow it. It suits people who want these extras in a Telegram client. The project states that it is not made by Telegram.
It requires macOS 12 or later on Apple silicon. The release zip is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without an override, and the app checks an Ed25519 signature before it installs updates. Secret chats, calls, polls, scheduled messages and keyword filters are not implemented yet, and Windows and Linux builds are still to come.
