About Toma
Toma records a rectangle of the screen. You press a shortcut, drag a region and recording starts as soon as you let go; a thumbnail then lets you save the clip as MP4, HEVC or GIF, copy it to the clipboard or drag it into another app. It is meant for short clips for chats, documentation or a README, and it has no settings window, editor or account. The README says the app has no analytics and stores nothing outside the folder you choose, though it checks GitHub once a day for new versions.
It requires macOS 26 or later and runs as a universal build on Apple silicon and Intel. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning, but you must grant the Screen Recording permission before the first recording. The interface is in English and Spanish.
