Notch apps
Open-source Mac apps that use the area around the MacBook notch for media controls, file shelves, teleprompters, agent status and alerts.
MacBooks with a notch leave a strip at the top of the screen that the menu bar works around. Notch apps turn that space into something useful: a panel that expands on hover, a place for live status, or a spot just below the camera for text you need to read while looking at it.
The apps here cover several uses, including media controls and system indicators, temporary file shelves, teleprompters for presenting, and status and approvals for AI coding agents, along with tools that keep menu bar icons from disappearing behind the notch. Consider which information you want at a glance and how much you want the top of the screen to change when you hover over it.
