Window managers
Open-source window managers for Mac that move, resize and snap windows with shortcuts, gestures or drag zones, from simple halves to full tiling layouts.
macOS lets you drag windows around and tile two of them side by side, but arranging a full screen of apps by hand takes many small adjustments. A window manager moves and resizes windows for you, through keyboard shortcuts, snap zones, mouse or trackpad gestures, or rules that run automatically.
The apps here range from small utilities that snap a window to a half or a third of the screen to scriptable managers and automatic tilers. Consider whether you prefer shortcuts or dragging, how well an app handles several displays and Spaces, and whether its configuration is something you are comfortable maintaining.
