About AITranscribe
AITranscribe records from the microphone with a global shortcut and can paste the text at your cursor. Transcription uses Whisper or NVIDIA Parakeet models that run on your Mac. Sessions can capture microphone and desktop audio together, and existing audio or video files can be imported and transcribed. Polishes and summaries run on local MLX models on Apple silicon, or on OpenAI and OpenRouter if you add your own keys. It suits dictation and meeting notes where the audio should stay local by default.
Requires macOS 13.0 or later; local summaries need Apple silicon. The app is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate, so it is not notarized, and the first launch needs right-click, Open or the xattr command in the README. Desktop-audio capture asks for Screen Recording permission. The official DMG is pay-what-you-want, so this entry is not marked free. The author may offer separate commercial terms for material he controls; third-party material keeps its own license.
