About Dinky
Dinky makes image, video and PDF files smaller. Images can be converted to WebP, AVIF, lossless PNG, HEIC or JPEG, with a maximum width or target file size. Videos are re-encoded to MP4 with H.264 or HEVC and quality presets. PDFs can be flattened, or rewritten to keep their text and links, with optional on-device OCR for scanned pages. Presets save these settings, and watch folders compress new files automatically. It suits people who regularly shrink files for websites, uploads or storage.
Dinky 2.x needs an Apple silicon Mac and macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs can use the 1.x line, which handles only images and remains on the releases page. The app is not notarized, so the first launch must be allowed under System Settings, Privacy & Security, with Open Anyway.
