About Helix
Helix is a desktop app for scientific data: enter or import a table, run analyses on it, and turn the results into publication-style graphs. It is meant as a free, open-source replacement for GraphPad Prism for researchers who want their data to stay on their own computer. Statistics run through R compiled to WebAssembly (webR), and graphs are drawn with Plotly, so the work happens locally. Its README says the app has no telemetry; the only outside connection is a daily check on GitHub for a newer version.
It requires macOS 13.3 or later, and the releases include separate DMGs for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The builds are signed and notarized by Apple, so they open like any other app after the download. The project is free and licensed under GPL-3.0 or later, with no paid tier.
