About Notepad for Mac
Notepad is a plain-text editor for macOS modelled on Windows Notepad: one text area and no formatting. Its tabs sit in the title bar, can be dragged out into their own windows, and are searchable together with recently closed files. It also has find and replace, and a preview for formats such as Markdown, CSV, JSON and Mermaid. Colors, fonts and shortcuts for 15 commands can be changed. It suits people who want a simple editor that opens files from Finder.
Requires macOS 15.0 or later. The README says the download runs on Apple silicon and Intel, but the Intel build has not been tried on an Intel Mac. The v1.2 zip is not notarized, so macOS blocks the first start until you choose Open Anyway in Privacy & Security settings. The interface is in English and German, and the preview does not load internet content unless you turn that setting on.
