About Rime

Rime is a PDF reader for studying. When you open a document, the desktop, widgets, icons, Dock and menu bar freeze into frosted ice around the page, and the ice melts when you switch to another app. It is built on PDFKit, so zoom and text selection work like Preview, and highlights, underlines, notes and shapes are saved as standard PDF annotations. It suits people who read lecture notes or papers on the Mac and want the page without distractions.

Rime requires macOS 27 or later. The README says it is not notarized, so the first launch has to be allowed under System Settings, Privacy & Security. It has no network access and no tracking. Its README badge still reads macOS 14+, while the requirements section says 27.
