Video players
Open-source video players for Mac that play local files, network streams and IPTV playlists, with subtitles and keyboard controls.
A video player opens movie and video files and plays them back with control over subtitles, audio tracks, playback speed and picture settings. Several of the players below also handle network streams, IPTV playlists or media servers.
QuickTime Player supports a limited set of formats. When choosing an alternative, check the formats and codecs it plays, how it handles subtitles, whether it uses hardware decoding on your Mac, and whether its controls and shortcuts feel native or follow another platform.
