About Earnote
Earnote is a free Mac app that records a meeting, call or lecture, including the other participants through system audio, and turns the transcript into a structured note. Transcription always runs on the Mac, using Apple Speech on macOS 26 or Whisper. Summaries come from a built-in local model by default, or from Apple Intelligence, Ollama, LM Studio or a cloud provider you choose. Notes can go to Notion, Obsidian, Apple Notes and a few other places, and open tasks to Reminders, Things or Todoist. It suits students and anyone who sits in many meetings and wants notes without a subscription.
It requires macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon; Intel Macs are not supported. The local AI model needs about 2.3 GB of free space and the README recommends 8 GB of RAM or more. The README says the app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized, so it opens with a double-click. Version 1.0.1 is a beta, and the iPhone version is only in TestFlight. Recording other people may require their consent, which the app reminds you about.
