About RetroMac
RetroMac overlays the screen with CRT effects such as scanlines, curvature and phosphor bloom, and can switch the desktop to classic themes including Mac OS 9, Windows 98 and Windows XP. It also has a retro TV window for YouTube and IPTV streams, a shader for webcams in video calls, and game ports for Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem 3D through their free engines. It is for people who want a nostalgic look on everyday screens.
It requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel; the DMG is universal. On first launch it asks for Screen Recording for the shader, and Accessibility and Camera for optional features. The README says the DMG is signed and notarized. The app is free to use. An optional Pro unlock, sold through Gumroad, lifts limits on premium themes and effects. Warcraft I and II need your own game data.
