Wallpaper apps
Open-source wallpaper apps for Mac that play videos as live wallpapers, build dynamic wallpapers or set the desktop picture automatically.
macOS shows a still picture or one of its built-in dynamic wallpapers on the desktop. Wallpaper apps add more: video files playing behind your windows, dynamic wallpapers built from your own images, or a desktop picture that updates itself from another source.
Several apps here play your own videos as live wallpapers, with options for each display and, in some cases, the lock screen. Others create dynamic wallpaper files that change with the time of day or set the background from map imagery. Consider the effect on battery and memory when video plays continuously.
