Free, open-source alternatives to Luminar Neo

A photo editor for RAW and other images that relies on AI-assisted adjustments for exposure, skies, portraits and object removal.

Luminar Neo is a photo editor that opens RAW and standard image files and adjusts them with tools for exposure, colour, detail, portraits and skies, many of them driven by AI so a single slider can make a large change. It also keeps a library of the photos you edit. The open-source apps below do the same core job of developing and adjusting your photos, without the AI automation.

darktable pairs a nondestructive editing pipeline with its own photo library, masks and tagging, so it covers both Luminar's editing and its catalogue. RawTherapee focuses on precise development of individual files, with detailed control over exposure, colour and sharpening, and batch export for whole shoots.
