Forel

Forel watches folders and applies rules you set up once. Conditions can look at a file's name, extension, kind, size, dates, tags, Finder colour label, comments or the text inside documents; actions move, copy, rename, compress, extract, tag, trash or delete files, or run a shell script or Apple Shortcut, with date tokens such as {year} in destination paths. A dry run shows what a rule would do before it touches anything, a history lists each result, and supported actions can be undone. Matching runs on the Mac without a cloud service.

It is for people who want Downloads, Desktop or scan folders sorted automatically, in the way Hazel users are used to. Rules keep running from the menu bar when the main window is closed.

Forel needs macOS 14 or later and is a universal build, signed and notarized, also installable with Homebrew. The free tier is limited to 2 watched folders and 300 processed files per month; OCR for images and scanned PDFs and imports into Photos, Music and TV need a paid Pro license, and there is no trial.
