About Snappy
Snappy is a lightweight screenshot tool in the style of Ubuntu's. Press one shortcut, choose a selection, a window or the whole screen, and capture with one click. A toolbar adds arrows, boxes, pen, highlighter, text, numbered steps and blur for hiding passwords. The copy-text button recognises text inside a selection with Apple's Vision framework on your Mac, and no image is uploaded. Screenshots are saved as PNG or JPEG to a folder you choose. It suits people who take many quick screenshots for bug reports, documentation or chat.
It requires macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. The zip is signed with a local self-signed certificate rather than a Developer ID and is not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway. The app needs Screen Recording permission. It contacts the internet only to check for updates, and only when you ask for a check or turn on the daily check.
