Open-source alternatives to Logic Pro

Logic Pro is a digital audio workstation for recording audio and MIDI, playing software instruments, editing performances and mixing finished tracks. The open-source apps below are workstations built for the same production job.

Ardour concentrates on multitrack recording, editing and mixing, and works with third-party plug-ins. Stargate bundles its own instruments, effects, sequencer and wave editor into one app, so it is quicker to start with but more self-contained.
