Free, open-source alternatives to ScreenFlow

ScreenFlow records the screen, camera and audio on a Mac and opens the capture in a video editor for trimming, zooms, callouts and export. The open-source apps below share that record-then-edit workflow for tutorials and product demos.

Cap, OpenScreen, Recordly, Reframed and Screenize all record the screen with audio and then let you polish the result, most of them with zooms that follow the cursor and styled backgrounds. Cap also captures a camera and supports sharing, Reframed can record a connected iOS device, and Screenize puts every generated zoom on a multi-track timeline.
